Introduction to Glassblowing: May

May 6, 10AM - 4PM | All Levels | Ages 18+

The class will begin with an introduction to equipment, molten glass and a safety discussion.  Students will then learn to colour, shape, twist and blow 2200ºF molten glass to create two projects each: a beautiful ornament to hang in a window and a fun and colourful drinking glass.  Students will be working in teams of two and each student will get to make both projects.

Collage II

Suzette Terry continues last year's exploration of collage in this two day workshop. Lessons will include different surface preparations, application methods, finishing glazes, and how to use the principles of design to create a finished piece.

Etched Copper Bracelet

May 16, 1PM - 4PM | All Levels | Ages 16+

Students will cut and file their bracelet blanks, then clean the copper thoroughly.  Students will then design and draw a resist on to their copper blank.

Join Marta Scythes for an exploratory workshop of particular interest to the naturalist or outdoors person. Marta guides students through observation exercises and how to document on location with line, shading and contour. A focus on local bird species as well as plant matter will provide a scientific basis for course illustrations.
