Nuno felting is a specific felting technique that fuses felting fibres to a base to create a unique, artful fabric. Students of this course will learn the basics of felting and specific technique of nuno felting, how to blend colour fibres, creating a pattern with colour and texture or with permanent gathers, incorporating various materials, or intarsia. Participants will design a nuno felted scarf from planning, calculating shrinkage, laying fibres through learning treatment of the edges, troubleshooting, finishing steps of the work, and discussion of results.
Learning Outcome: Students will learn principles of nuno felting , including: choices of materials, practicing basic steps of the method, treatment of the edges, and dealing with challenges of the process. They will learn three basic methods of creating a pattern in nuno felt. Students will create a selection of inspirational samples and make a nuno scarf of their individual design
