Sharon Barfoot guides an exploration of the pochoir printmaking method, which uses stencils that are inked in solid colours and layered face up on a plate. This layering process continues by, once again, layering the reverse side of the stencils on the plate and creating a second pull on the same paper. Unpredictable patterns emerge as a result of the layering process. We will start by creating a selection of stencils with a variety of shape and scale. We will discuss various methods used to produce prints.
Learning Outcome:Upon completion of this workshop, participants will:Make both positive and negative shaped stencilslearn how to distinguish from positive and negative shapes and how to balance each on a monoprint. Produce a balanced monotype using stencils in the pochoir method of printmaking.
