Communicating who you are and why you are unique is a cornerstone of being an artist in business. All artists and artisans should have a biography, an artist statement and a short show biography. Learn the difference between these materials, what tone is appropriate for each and work through a series of examples and exercises to find your voice.

Attendees should email their current biography and artist statement to at least 7 days prior to the workshop.

Business to Bruce and Southampton Arts present “The Business of Art”, a free workshop series led by artists, for artists.

Primarily for the entrepreneurial maker community, each module in this six part series supports artists and artisans interested in taking their passion to market, guiding them through creating materials specific to the arts sector, defining their brand, pricing, the logistics of working with retail partners and taking their work on the show circuit.

Workshops can be attended in person or online, with modifications to the online content.

Business to Bruce is an economic development program operated by Bruce County.
Southampton Arts has been Bruce County’s pre imminent destination for artists, students and arts appreciators since the Southampton Art School was founded in 1957.
