Students will explore the use of flat patterns of shape and colour, the wet on wet technique, vignettes and the power of using just 3 colours.
Join Jenna McGuire for an exploratory workshop of particular interest to the naturalist or outdoors person. Jenna is a scientist and scientific illustrator with a passion for the Peninsula and Lake Huron. She will guide students through observation exercises and how to document on location with line, shading and contour.
This one day watercolour landscape event allows you to investigate the joy of working with a limited palette.
We start by testing combinations of 3, then when ready, move on to creating many small, loose landscapes.
Later in the day, students will be applying this new technique onto a full sheet of watercolour paper.
This two-day workshop will introduce students to a truly versatile medium and show them how to produce stunning effects equal to that of watercolour. Easy to use and convenient to store and replace, coloured pencils can be used alone or combined with graphite. Techniques such as burnishing and layering, along with accurate colour matching, tonal rendering and compositional layout, will help students to master this rewarding medium.
This four day immersive exploration of texture, colour and process provides an overview of several artists "toolbox" techniques to add interest, complexity and originality to your mixed media collages.
In this information packed workshop , students will learn many of the techniques Michele has employed in her 35 plus years of painting as a professional artist. How to set up a floral still life for a dramatic painting. Lighting and composition will be covered as well as some photography techniques that can be achieved with an iPhone camera. A reference photo will be provided for the workshop.
Working larger than life, the drawing will be transferred onto toned canvas and under painted. Painting white florals is especially challenging and Michele will share her secrets for effectively capturing the luminosity in her flowers. Brush techniques, colour mixing and many tips and tricks will be shared.
