The first day of this workshop will begin with transferring a lighthouse image onto a half sheet of watercolour paper; applying masking fluid and light washes of watercolour paints. A layer of melted wax is applied and the paper manipulated to create the distinctive crackled look of batik. Paper is allowed to rest in a tub of water and then a dark wash is applied, and the image is further worked with watercolour techniques to create a truly unique piece.
Material Fee includes:
Half sheet of 140 lb Arches paper, brushes, paints, paper towels, newsprint, paraffin wax, iron
Learning Outcome: Learn the process of incorporating melted wax with watercolours, learn a simple method transferring any reference onto paper, learn various watercolour techniques.
