The Centre

The Southampton Arts Centre includes several distinct gallery display areas.

Named after the founder of the Southampton Art School, the Henderson room is our signature space on the main level. This bright, spacious area used to be the court room of historic Southampton Town Hall and now houses feature exhibitions in the shoulder and winter seasons, the Spring Member's Show and the work of all of our members in the high and holiday seasons.

The big double doors facing Albert Street are no longer in use, but were thrown open each morning and evening as the town firetruck went about its business in the days that this space served as the Town Firehall. Today, this intimate, ground level space adjacent to the Saugeen Shores tourism office and overlooking the Gateway to the Arts and the School beyond, hosts regularly rotating exhibitions by our Associate Artists and Organizations as well as special collections by our Permanent Artists.

Named after Carol Cleary, who was the first to have a vision for Town Hall as a display space for local artists and started a co operative here in 1999. The Cleary Community Rooms thread through our lower levels and are where you can view the work of our Permament Artists year round.

Located on the main floor, this reading room houses our extensive Art Library. Explore promotional materials from all of our Artist members as well as upcoming class materials while viewing small, rotating exhibitions by emerging, local Supporting Artists.
