Landscape painter Kristina Maus works in acrylics, watercolour and pencil, and has produced a body of work over the years that celebrates her passion for the natural world. Subject matter is as varied as the ever changing seasons of rural Ontario.

Kristina began her art career as a book illustrator and graphic artist in the 80s, illustrating seven books, returned to U of W to add some formal art training to her undergrad degree, and completed a Bachelor of Education at Western, junior intermediate art focus.  Having enjoyed a successful teaching career with the Bluewater Board, in retirement she is focusing on her own art practice.  Maus lives outside of Paisley on a farm, and is presently a Gallery Artist at the Southampton Arts Centre, a member of Studio XX painters in Chatsworth, and organizes Bruce Trail hike-and-draw events.

Artist Statement

Painting the landscape helps me connect with it.  As I explore details, immerse in big colours, puzzle out structures and atmosphere, with each observation I learn a little more about myself and my environment.  Watching the light bounce about out there, the images constantly changing, generates that “Wow” feeling. I’m seriously in awe of the world we're privileged to experience.
