Susan started her artistic career working in watercolors and ink, and she continues to produce
work in those mediums today. This background influences her fusion of three-dimensional
form with techniques that reflect her fascination with surface, form and space – creating bold
functional art for everyday use. Her work ranges from traditional form and glazes to lively bold
modernistic expressions in clay.
Her pottery has shown at the “Big Fish, Small Teapot” International Competition, San
Francisco, the “Global Positioning/ China,” show at the Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute,
Jingdezhen, China, at the One of a Kind Show in Toronto, and was featured at the By Hand
show in Toronto as well. She also won a Fusion Design Award for her installation “Teapot
Meditation, 108 Teapots,” and her work appeared in the Pottery Supply House 50th Year
Anniversary Calendar for 2008.
She was featured at the Colborne Gallery in a show of her own in April 2015, where she
featured her work in clay and on paper. She was Chair and Secretary of the Northumberland
Hills Studio Tour for a number of years, as well as the Ganaraska Studio Tour. She was also a
member of the Kawartha Potters Guild, is past-Chair of the Northumberland Potters
Association, organizing their juried shows. Her work was also shown at the Art Gallery of
Northumberland’s Port Hope Gallery, at Impressario Art Market and Gallery in Port Hope, the
Ungallery in Picton and other venues that you can find listed on her website www.potterystudio.ca.
