Jennifer energizes, motivates, and educates students in a supportive, non-judgemental setting. Children will participate in improv games, exercises and sketches that build life skills including concentration, proactive listening, collaboration, problem solving and self confidence.

Underwater adventures! Well, in our imaginations! Students learn about incredible reef ecosystems and explore color, shape and texture in the creation of coral, sea anemones, sea urchins, sponges, barnacles and more!

Batik & Tie Dye Colour Camp!

July 13 - 17, 1PM - 4PM | All Levels | Ages 7-12

Batik is a very old art form involving wax resists and saturated colours to create designs! Children will twist and tie fabric to create patterns, explore colour theory and make wild and wonderful colour combinations to wear, take a nap with as a cool pillowcase...or let your creativity (literal) flag fly!

In our modern times of photoshop and perfectionism, children sometimes find it hard to deal with unwanted marks, little mistakes or spills “ruining” their masterpiece. But truth is, most great inventions and amazing artworks started with “happy accidents.”

The Forest for the Trees *PAISLEY

July 13 - 17, 1PM - 4PM | All Levels | Ages 7-12

The shadowed tangle of the forest creates pattern and colour that captivates Gallery artists Kristina Maus and Peter John Reid...and will inspire our young artist's! Students will make sketch books and take a line (and their feet!) for a walk to capture shadow and shape in “plein air” then head back inside to learn about colour values, colour mixing and compositions.

Chelsea Campbell's class contains elements of drawing, painting and sculpture while learning about iconic “pop artist” Andy Warhol and his ideas about transforming everyday objects into art. Students will learn about process - how small steps can create a larger, more impactful art piece, along with learning technical skills such as proper brush strokes, shading and sources of light.

Willow Weaving for Kids

Get bent! Students explore the wondrous nature of willow construction. They will learn several willow weaving techniques and create a trivet, fish and star while learning how to weave two traditional forms of baskets (frame and stake & strand).

A perfect capture! Students will learn about the principles and elements of design, through capturing images of people, nature, and landscapes. Explore lighting and angles, composition and creativity! At the end of the week, students will present their images in a special exhibition for family and friends. Please bring your own digital and/or single lens reflex camera.

Calling all Creature Creators! Make the wackiest, wonkiest papier mache sculptures celebrating the feathered or the furred. Colour and pattern create feather and foot, cardboard and imagination transform into masks that express our inner animal.

Throughout the week, children will explore a variety of children’s books, famous artists, and the outdoors to provide inspiration for their artwork.

Art in Nature

August 10 - 14, 9AM - 12PM | All Levels | Ages 7-12

Students will explore Fairy Lake and the beach to gather materials found in nature to create incredible art projects!
Young artists start the week with a hike around Fairy Lake and create a "journey stick" while gathering  fallen leaves, bark, pine cones and other found treasures to use for relief printing in clay.

Calling all Scientists-Botanists, Ornithologists, Ichthyologists, Entomologists! Flora and Fauna will be a week filled with incredible experiences, investigations and observations of the natural world. We will use a variety of mediums to create  two and three dimensional pieces that highlight your interest in art and science.

Naturally Inspired!

Join Emily Kewageshig as she leads students on an exploration of the different animals and plants of Turtle Island. Emily inspires with her signature, contemporary Woodland style and encourages observation and colour play.  Students will be exploring colour mixing and paint pouring techniques

Freestyle Sewing for Girls

August 17 - 21, 9AM - 12PM | All Levels | Ages 7-12

This course will allow children to wear their own ART!  Students will experience the enjoyment of designing and creating their own altered clothing, while learning basics of hand and machine sewing, ironing, pinning, attaching buttons, tie dyeing, and painting fabric.

Geometric Drawing with Erin FitzGibbon

August 17 - 21, 1PM - 4PM | All Levels | Ages 9-16

Students will learn the origins of geometric design, the influence of culture on this art form, and the mathematics needed to create a basic design from scratch. Using a grid, ruler, and compass, Erin will walk students through how to create their very own tessellated pattern, or how to mimic a design from history. Students will then learn how to add colour to their designs, bringing their beautiful patterns to life

Each of our Gallery potters has a specific style as unique as their fingerprints. Explore Susan Nichol's incising techniques and slab built, steam punk inventions, Susan McDonald's stamps and impressions and Murray Fox’s colours and shapes.
