Get bent! Students explore the wondrous nature of willow construction. They will learn several willow weaving techniques and create a trivet, fish and star while learning how to weave two traditional forms of baskets (frame and stake & strand). Nautical engineers will love designing watercraft and investigating how to create twine from willow bark and use it for lashing & knots, making a cedar based sailboat and raft and helping to celebrate Marine Heritage Week!

Learning Outcomes: Short projects progressively teach the skills needed to complete the more complex frame and stake & strand baskets. Participants will complete something new each day while working on the two baskets step-by-step each day.
